Our History

Home for Love is a children’s home in Haiti providing a safe haven to some of Haiti’s most vulnerable children while meeting their physical, educational and spiritual needs in order to inspire a brighter future for themselves and their country.

The home opened in September 2015 and currently has 12 children. Home for Love also supports the local community by employing five caregivers, a social worker, and launderers.

Our goal is to make the home sustainable for years in to the future so that we may see these children safely into adulthood, giving them the vital skills they need to thrive.

Many of our children have come to us from the most dangerous part of Haiti, Cite Soleil. The Haitians call it "Hell on Earth."  They have witnessed unspeakable violence and sometimes gone days without food. The children of Haiti are among the most vulnerable in the world where many are sold into slavery.  "Restavèk", is a Haitian term for a child slave.  Parents who either do not want their children or simply can not provide for them,  see forcing their children to be a restavèk as the only means of providing food and shelter.

Rodney Leveille, like many children in Haiti, was abandoned by his mother as an infant. He spent many years fending for himself on the streets. These experiences shaped Rodney and he knew he didn’t want other children to experience life on the streets as he did.  He dreamed of building a safe home for unwanted children or children whose families could not provide the care for them that they needed.

While working as an interpreter for a medical team in 2014 Rodney met a nurse named Joy Miller.  He shared his dream with her and his passion to care for the lost children. Joy’s heart was touched by the people of Haiti, whose love and hope shined through despite their dismal and

dangerous living conditions.

Over the next two years Joy and Rodney, with the support of multiple dedicated volunteers in the US worked to open Home for Love.  Rodney and his wife Katiana live as a family with our twelve children and manage the home.  Together with a dedicated staff they are providing love, emotional support, hope, and a future to the children at Home for Love.

Our goal is to make the home sustainable for years in to the future so that we may see these children safely into adulthood, giving them the vital skills they need to thrive.

Meet The Team

Rodney & Katiana

We are so blessed that Rodney and Katiana have teamed up with us! Rodney was an orphan himself and through those experiences he believes this is his calling. It was Rodney's dream that made this children's home possible! We are so thankful for Rodney and his heart of GOLD

Meet Joy! Her first medical mission trip was to Haiti and she instantly fell in love with the country and the people there. Joy has been back to Haiti many times and each time she returned felt a stronger desire to do something more, although she didn't quite know what it was. Then a couple years ago she met Rodney Leveille and he told her about his dream to start a children's home in Haiti. It was at that moment Joy knew what she was being called to do.

Joy founded Home for Love in 2016.

Ashley & Jasper

Ashley has always had a passion for doing medical mission work and was looking for a way to give back in a larger scale. When she visited Haiti in 2015 Ashley fell in love with the people and was inspired by Rodney's dream to start a children's home.  Jasper joined forces with Ashley and has been a key team member always giving his time and energy. Both Ashley and Jasper are so excited to watch these children grow and can't wait to see what the future holds for Home for Love.

Kristin has long had a heart for global mission work and serving those in need. After the earthquake in 2010, Haiti became a place she felt deeply called to go. Five years later that opportunity to serve in Haiti as part of a medical team presented itself and on that life-changing trip, Kristin met a particularly impactful Haitian man - Rodney Leveille. Rodney's heart for his fellow Haitians and disadvantaged children was contagious and Kristin felt passionate about supporting him in this venture. She's thrilled to be a part of God's plan for each of these sweet lives.

Cheri went to Haiti in March 2015 with a church group on a medical mission. She was so taken with the country and the people that she wanted to do more than just an 8 day journey. Cheri felt blessed to join the team and be part of helping Rodney fulfill his dream to open Home for Love. Cheri is so excited to be a part of this journey and to be able to give back to Haiti for more then just one trip. She has been back to Haiti 2 times since her original trip and has loved meeting more of the people and experiencing more of the culture.
